Your First Visit
New patients at Twin Cities Dental Center are consistently impressed with, and grateful for, the comprehensive, patient-centered commitment to first understanding their dental history and needs, and then designing an individualized treatment plan.
For each new patient, the process begins with a Comprehensive Exam, at which time we spend as long as necessary learning about their oral health before we make any treatment decisions. Unlike what you may have come to expect, in many instances, this means that dental “cleanings” may not be done at this time, because we do a complete assessment of periodontal status to determine the type of cleaning appropriate for each individual.
For new patients with complex issues, there may also be a second appointment to examine and discuss the full range of treatment options.
To ensure that your initial visit to Twin Cities Dental Center is as productive as possible, please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your examination
• Any duplicate X-rays if applicable
• A list of medications you are presently taking
• If you have dental insurance, bring the necessary completed forms

This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.M
IMPORTANT: All patients under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the first visit.
We also need you to alert the office if you have any medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery, including but not limited to such conditions as diabetes, martial valve prolapses, heart murmur, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.

If you are unsure whether you need to alert us to your own particular problem, please do so anyway and err on the side of caution.
In the same vein, we need to know about any medications you are taking, including both prescription and over-the-counter drugs (e.g. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.).
At Twin Cities Dental Center, we recognize that your dental needs (and desires) are uniquely yours, and can only be met fully when we have a detailed understanding of your oral health history, any current issues you may have, and your “wants” for better dental health or a better smile.
Only when we have achieved that understanding through a comprehensive exam do we work with you to arrive at the customized treatment plan that will address your individual needs and allow you to enjoy the benefits of a lifetime of dental health.
Here is what you can expect at your initial exam:
• Upon arrival, you will be greeted by your treatment coordinator, get a tour of our facility and be introduced to the other member of our dental team
• All necessary X-rays will be taken along with photography of your smile and teeth
• Periodontal tests to determine any signs of gum disease will be performed
• A full mouth oral cancer screening will be performed
• A tooth by tooth exam by Dr. Gendler will be performed while utilizing our intraoral camera
• An occlusion exam will be done to determine how your bite and teeth meet
• We will complete dental health and cosmetic smile analysis, which may also include computerized imaging in order to preview any cosmetic enhancements you may desire
• You may view an educational video
This exam will take about 60 to 90 minutes. It will not hurt in any way.
We will discuss all treatment options with you and work with you to develop a treatment plan.
We will discuss the financial aspects of treatment with you, and work with you to arrive at comfortable financial arrangements, including trying to maximize your insurance benefits.
After your exam, we will develop Customized Treatment Plan that will outline the steps needed to keep your dental health at its optimum and maintain a beautiful, bright smile.
Please call us or e-mail if you have any further questions.
