Minneapolis residents no longer need to travel to other cities for comprehensive dental care. Our family dentist Minneapolis practice services Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, Hopkins and other nearby communities. Our friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere will put you at ease so you can get the smile you want without any anxiety. These are just a few of the services we offer our patients.

Family Dentistry

Our family dentistry practice is ideal for families with members of varying ages. In addition to the adult dental care we provide, our dentists are also experienced in working with pediatric patients. We put young patients at ease to prevent anxiety and make regular dental care a normal part of your child’s life.

Fillings

We offer mercury-free fillings to people who want natural-looking smiles. The resins we use strengthen teeth that have been weakened by mercury fillings, reducing the risk for dental problems later in life. We use the best bonding technology available to restore damaged teeth and place natural-colored fillings. This results in natural-looking smiles instead of smiles marred by silver fillings.

Orthodontic Care

Crooked teeth are not just a cosmetic issue; they are also a dental issue. People with crooked teeth may develop bite problems and other painful dental problems. We offer Six Month Smiles, which are braces that are left in place for an average of only six months. Unlike traditional braces, these braces have clear brackets and wires that match the color of the teeth. This makes them completely inconspicuous. The shorter treatment time makes Six Month Smiles more affordable than traditional braces. We also offer Invisalign, an excellent alternative to metal braces. The Invisalign system is comfortable and customized to each individual patient. Patients can remove the components of the system to floss, eat, drink, and brush their teeth.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Everyone deserves to have a beautiful smile. We offer cosmetic dentistry services to help our patients look and feel their best. The services we offer include bleaching, bonding, crowns and veneers. Each treatment is planned with the patient’s best interests in mind, helping each person achieve stunning results.

Sedation Dentistry

Many people avoid needed dental care because of fear or anxiety associated with visiting the dentist. Without proper dental care, these people can develop significant problems. Left untreated, these problems can cause pain and eventual loss of the affected tooth. Sedation dentistry makes it possible for nervous patients to get the treatment they need without developing anxiety. The sedatives we use relax the patient and make it possible to complete extensive treatments in as little as one session.

During a sedation dentistry visit, a trained dental professional administers a sedative that relaxes you and takes away your anxiety. Because some of these sedatives may cause drowsiness, you should bring someone with you to drive you home after your visit. These are just some of the benefits of choosing our sedation dentistry services.

Reduced Anxiety

Some of our patients have a lot of anxiety about undergoing dental work. This anxiety sometimes prevents them from scheduling necessary preventive care or restorative dental work. Sedation dentistry helps reduce anxiety levels so even the most nervous patients can get their teeth taken care of in a timely manner.

Reduced Pain

Many dentists use Novocain to reduce pain in their patients. Unfortunately, some people do not respond as well to this drug as others. As a result, they feel much more of the dental work because they do not get as numb as they should. Someone who does not respond well to Novocain may decide to undergo sedation to eliminate pain.

Multiple Procedures

Novocain is ideal for short dental procedures, but patients undergoing multiple procedures are often more comfortable if they are sedated. Once the sedative reduces anxiety and fear, the dentist is better able to perform extensive dental work with a minimum of discomfort.

Individual Circumstances

Some patients make ideal candidates for sedation because of their individual circumstances. Those with physical disabilities may prefer sedation to keep them comfortable throughout their treatments. Some people have particularly strong gag reflexes, making it difficult to complete their dental work. These are just some of the possible reasons someone might choose to take advantage of our sedation dentistry MN services. Another benefit of using sedation is that people who fear needles can still get their dental work completed without having to face their fears. Some sedatives come in pill or gas form, so there is no need to use needles with every patient.

Pediatric Patients

Pediatric patients can really benefit from sedation because it helps ease their fears. Getting dental work done for the first time can be a scary experience for a young child. Sedation dentistry makes it possible to perform preventive services and other dental procedures while a child is comfortable and relaxed. This also reduces the risk that a child will develop an ongoing fear of visiting the dentist, making it easier to get kids to take care of their teeth properly.

Many people only think about the dentist twice a year when it is time to schedule a cleaning. Unfortunately, many dental emergencies can occur throughout the year. If you do not have an emergency dentist at your disposal, you could needlessly suffer with pain and other symptoms for several days. Fortunately, Twin Cities Dental Center offers emergency dental services for people in Minneapolis and surrounding areas. These are just a few of the ways we can help you in the event of a dental emergency.

Broken Teeth

Although teeth are usually very strong, they can chip, break or crack under the right circumstances. Cavities weaken the teeth, making them easier to break. Falling, biting down on something very hard or getting hit in the mouth can also cause broken or chipped teeth. There is no way to treat a break or fracture at home, so you must visit a dentist as soon as possible. At Twin Cities Dental Center, we can help determine if the root of the tooth is in danger and come up with a treatment plan to restore or replace the tooth.

Toothaches

Not only do toothaches cause pain, they also make it difficult to eat, smile, talk and do many other normal activities. There’s no need for you to suffer all weekend if you have a bad toothache. Our team will help determine the cause of the toothache and treat it appropriately. We can also help with pain management to reduce discomfort.

Problems with Braces

Anyone who has ever had a broken wire or loose bracket knows how important it is to get the problem fixed quickly. Our team can assist you with broken wires, loose brackets, loose bands and other problems caused by braces.

Infections and Abscesses

Dental abscesses can cause pain and make it difficult to eat. Worse yet, the infection can spread from the affected tooth to other parts of the mouth. In severe cases, the infection can even get into the bloodstream. Immediate treatment is necessary to prevent complications, so you can take advantage of our emergency dentist Minneapolis services.

Repair of Dental Work

Missing crowns, missing fillings and other problems can put the affected tooth at risk and cause significant discomfort. We can fix these problems to alleviate pain and protect your teeth from additional damage. You do not need to put off needed dental work in the evening or on weekends since our team of experts offers emergency dentist Minneapolis services.

For many patients, the fear of getting a needle is one of the things that keep them from visiting the dentist regularly. New advances in technology make it possible for the dentists at Twin Cities Dental Center to eliminate the need for shots in many cases. We use laser dentistry technology to perform several dental services without pain and discomfort.

Laser Technology

Our dentists use the Waterlase dental laser, along with an air and water spray, to remove dental decay and perform other dental procedures. This laser has pinpoint accuracy, which reduces the risk of damage to the teeth and gum tissue. This laser also has an added benefit when compared with traditional dental tools: high-speed drills sometimes leave behind dead organic material, making it difficult for fillings to bond properly to the surface of the tooth. The laser does not leave this material behind, so there is a better surface for bonding.

Dental Procedures

In addition to removing dental decay, this laser is also a helpful tool for performing other types of dental work. Our dentists use the Waterlase to prepare cavities for treatment, perform root canals, reshape smiles and perform soft tissue procedures. Dentists also use this laser tool for procedures involving dentin or tooth enamel. In many cases, the laser eliminates the need for local anesthetics and reduces discomfort.

Benefits of MN Laser Dentistry

Using this laser has several benefits for patients. Those used to the pain of a high-speed drill will be happy to know that the Waterlase does not use vibration or heat to cut the tooth. This almost completely eliminates pain. This is a very precise tool, which means that your dentist can remove tooth decay without damaging healthy tissue. In some cases, drills can cause the teeth to crack. Using this laser technology helps avoid this complication. This tool also reduces the risk of infection. Before the development of this laser tool, some dentists could not perform soft tissue procedures in their offices. We can perform soft tissue procedures right at the Twin Cities Dental Center with a minimum of bleeding and other complications. Using this laser tool, we can also treat periodontal disease (gum disease) by removing plaque and diseased tissue. The laser eliminates the bacteria responsible for periodontal disease, making it easier to manage this dental problem.

If you have been putting off needed dental work due to your fear of needles, contact us to discuss our Minneapolis laser dentistry services today.

Have you ever dreamed about completely transforming your smile? Whether you are not a fan of your yellowed teeth or you need extensive dental work to restore your smile, our team can help you change your smile and your life. Our cosmetic dentistry services not only improve your smile, they also improve your confidence. Below, are just some of the cosmetic dentistry Minneapolis services we offer, and how they can benefit you.

Smile Analysis
We use two techniques to analyze your smile and help you determine how to make it even more beautiful. One approach is the objective approach, which takes several factors into consideration. These factors include missing teeth, crooked teeth, spaces between the teeth, tooth color and old dental work that does not look natural. We also use the emotional approach to smile analysis. We ask you to consider if you like your smile, if you avoid smiling in front of others and how your smile makes you feel.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers can completely transform your smile, thanks to adhesion techniques that make it possible for our dentists to laminate porcelain to tooth enamel, metals and other materials. Porcelain veneers can help those who have stained teeth and teeth with different contours. The process actually preserves the natural structure of the tooth and strengthens the tooth.

Bonding
If you have been hiding your smile due to damaged or disfigured teeth, bonding might be right for you. This involves the application of a hard resin to the outer service of the damaged tooth. Once we apply the resin, we shape it so that it matches the rest of your teeth. Bonding is ideal for fixing chipped teeth, filling in spaces between teeth and helping those with discolored teeth.

Bleaching
A bright white smile can improve your confidence and help you look and feel your best. We use two primary methods of whitening when we provide cosmetic dentistry Minneapolis services. One is called “power bleaching,” as it usually only takes one office visit. After isolating your teeth, we apply a powerful bleaching agent to the surface. Once the bleaching agent has been applied, we use a computerized light to release oxygen and whiten the teeth. We also offer at-home bleaching as an option. We do this by taking impressions of your teeth and making custom bleaching trays. You use a chemical whitening gel and the bleaching tray at home while you sleep. If you perform the bleaching procedure properly, you can expect maximum results within two weeks.

It strengthens and protects the enamel from tooth decay by making teeth less susceptible to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars. In the past, fluoride was generally used for infants and children ages 6 months and 16 years old to protect new teeth coming in and the development of permanent teeth. But new research shows, fluoride benefits people of all ages in preventing tooth decay. Topical fluoride is available in many tooth pastes and mouth rinses on the market today. It is also available at dental offices with a much higher level of fluoride. It can be applied in the form of gels, foams or varnishes every 6 months or at the time of routine cleaning appointments. Once the fluoride is applied, it is quickly absorbed by teeth and stays in the mouth for some time. It is recommended not to eat or drink for 30 minutes following the application.

You can receive topical fluoride treatments at the dentist office if you are more prone to dental decay or have a history of dental decay. Fluoride offers that extra protection in fighting cavities but should not be the only practice in your dental hygiene. Fluoride treatments combined with regular brushing and flossing, are all important practices in keeping teeth healthy for a long time.

When you look through magazines, do you envy the models’ smiles?

We are constantly asked how many times a day we brush at our routine dental checkups. So why is it so important to brush your teeth regularly? Brushing is one of the most important ways to remove plaque, prevent cavities, strengthens gums and reduce staining ensuring you a healthy and clean mouth to last a lifetime. Dental problems can start occurring if we neglect our oral hygiene. Most of us say we brush regularly, but are we brushing the right way, or effectively? Here are some tips to look over that may help you improve your brushing method so you can get the most out of your daily brushing routine.

When brushing, focus on the hard to reach back teeth, gum line, and dental restorations.

Start by brushing in sections at a 45-degree angle with firm pressure on the teeth and gum line

Move the brush across teeth in short, circular motions

Brush the outer surfaces of the upper teeth, and the same with the lower teeth

Brush the inner surfaces of the upper teeth, and the same with lower teeth

Brush the chewing surfaces of the top and bottom teeth by applying short back and forth strokes

To finish, brush your tongue to clear out collected bacteria and freshen breath

Make sure you change your tooth brush at least every three months or when you notice the bristles are becoming worn. A worn tooth brush won’t help you clean effectively. Also don’t forget to floss!

4. Limit the amount of junk food, sweets, and sugary drinks consumed.

5. Visit our office regularly so cavities can be detected early. You also have an option to receive fluoride treatments to strengthen the enemal and prevents tooth decay.

It progresses over time and if left untreated, leads to tooth loss and many health problems. In fact, gum disease is one the main causes of tooth loss in adults and is linked to heart disease and stroke. It is difficult to know whether you have gum disease or not because symptoms don’t show up until its advanced stage.
